BEAM Alliance System Featured in VISION House® Tucson

Improves Indoor Air Quality in Sustainable Demonstration Home

TUCSON, Ariz. – The BEAM Alliance Central Vacuum System will be keeping one of the nation’s premier showcases of sustainable building a clean and a healthy place to live. The system is among the featured products in Vision House Tucson, a demonstration home that focuses on green design, advanced technologies and site-specific solutions to enhance the home’s long-term sustainability in the Sonoran desert climate.

Energy conservation and indoor air quality were among the top priorities for builder John Wesley Miller, architect Jak Krzysik and Green Builder Media founder Ron Jones, sponsor of the Vision House program.

Equipped with solar power and energy efficient systems inside the home, VISION House Tucson actually produces more electricity than it uses and is able to sell power back to the local utility. The house also includes innovative water conservation and indoor air quality technologies.

“We consider indoor air quality to be a huge issue and therefore a central vacuum is standard equipment,” Jones says.

“In all of our surveys of consumers, their first concern is energy issues and right behind that, a very close second, is indoor environment quality because they realize all of the things that are taking place relative to health, especially with children,” Jones adds.

The new BEAM Alliance System by Electrolux chosen for the project delivers up to five times the deep cleaning power of a conventional vacuum and uses 30 percent less energy than other central vacuum systems. It also completely removes 100 percent of contacted dirt and allergens from the living area without stirring up dust inside the home. The BEAM System also qualifies for green building certification points in both the National Association of Homebuilders and LEED green building standards.
